Mitch Cobb Sets New Record At Nashville, (17.962 Seconds!)
All American 400

Mitch Cobb lined up first to qualify and that is exactly where he qualified for tomorrow’s 200-lap All American 400, part of a doubleheader event with the CRA Super Series and the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour. Mitch broke a two year old track record by besting the other 38 cars during this afternoon’s qualifying.

“It felt slow actually.” Mitch said when asked about his record setting lap. ”My spotter called out 18.03 after the first lap and I thought he said 19.03. Then on the final lap he called out 17.96 and I thought he meant 18.96. I never had any idea the 17 second range could be attained.”

Mitch had been in the top 5 during practice for most of the day, only dropping out of the top 5 for one session to work on old tire race-runs. He and the team are confident they found a setup that can go the distance for two hundred laps tomorrow.

“The car is driving nice. We changed up the setup from last July when I ran my first race here. This place is so historic, I would love to add my name to the list of previous winners here.”

The race is scheduled to begin Saturday at approximately 3 PM. Please check out www.craracing.net or www.mitchcobbracing.com for all the news from Nashville.

Ryan Crane Wins the Battle, Josh Hamner wins the War at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida
Crane Makes Five Different Winners in Five Starts, as Hamner Holds on for the Championship

PENSACOLA, FL (September 27, 2008) – It was a night that showcased four drivers who seem to be more than ready for the upcoming Snowball Derby. It came down to who had the best run after the two-tire pit stop with less than 30 laps to go. It looked as if Eddie Mercer was on his way to victory after shattering the track record in qualifying. Ryan Crane had different ideas, as he made the pass for the win on Mercer with only nine laps to go. Crane then held off a hard-charging Mitch Cobb to score the win in the Blizzard Series Carpenter’s Campers 100, at the same time Josh Hamner locked up the Blizzard Series’ Title.

Saturday Night Short Track Racing at Lonesome Pine
Wayne Hale (19) turned the fastest lap in qualifying for the Late Model event, but BAM Racing's Nate Monteith (44) was hungry to revisit Lonesome Pine's Victory Lane. However, Hale was just as eager to get to the checkered flag first. On lap 2, Burton Martin (2) broke loose exiting turn 4 and nearly wrecked in front of oncoming traffic. After a miraculous save, Martin continued on from the last position. On lap 15, Monteith's teammate, Benjamin Blessing (21), made contact with Steve Wright (75) and tagged the inside wall on the backstretch ending his night.

After an extensive clean up effort, the green flag was once again shown to the field, leaving Monteith to stalk Hale through every corner. Monteith was making his best runs through the exit of turn 2, which paid off on lap 36 as Monteith wrestled the lead away and began to put distance between himself and Hale. Other battles taking place during the closing laps were for the 5th position between Martin, Wright and Mardy Roberts (55), as well as the hotly contested 3rd place battled involving John King, Jr. (11) and Brian Blevins (40). The final finishing order would be Monteith, Hale, King, Jr., Blevins and Martin.
